Village Manager
Welcome to the Village of Royal Palm Beach, A Place We Call Home.
On behalf of the Village of Royal Palm Beach, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and thank you for visiting our website. This site reflects the Village's commitment to communicate effectively with its residents and provides a snapshot of the quality of life that can be experienced in Royal Palm Beach. The Village strives to provide services and facilities to create an aesthetically pleasing, active for all ages, hometown, family community with residents and businesses that care for the well-being and success of one another.
The Village of Royal Palm Beach operates under the Council-Manager form of government, which is much like a publicly traded corporation. It is believed the Council-Manager form of local governing advances the highest ethical and professional standards. Under the form, an elected governing body, called the Village Council, is responsible for legislative functions such as establishing policy, passing local ordinances, voting appropriations, and developing an overall vision, similar to a corporate board of directors. The Council appoints a City Manager to oversee the administrative operations, implement its policies, and advise it. The manager position is similar to that of a corporate Chief Executive Officer appointed by a board of directors.
The Village of Royal Palm Beach was incorporated in 1959 and is the 10th largest city in Palm Beach County with approximately 40,000 residents. The Village covers 12 square miles and is home to more than 20 beautiful parks and natural areas covering 15% of the Village. The Village Council and staff work diligently to provide our residents with the highest level of service in all that we do. We want the Village of Royal Palm Beach to be a community you proudly call home.
As a resident or business owner, we encourage you to get involved in one of our many activities. The Village hosts 5 Community Events annually: West Fest, Seafood Festival, July 4th Spectacular, Rock-n-Fall Festival, and Winter Fest. These events are free to attend and packed full of fun for the whole family. We also offer vendor and sponsorship opportunities for businesses and individuals at each of these events. In addition to our Community Events, food and music lovers can gather on our Great Lawn at Commons Park on the first and third Fridays of each month to enjoy our Food Truck Expo and Concert Nights. Parking and admission are always free and you are encouraged to bring your own chairs and blankets.
The Royal Palm Beach Recreation Center, located at 100 Sweet Bay Lane, offers a wide variety of activities for all age groups. Our youth programs feature activities such as karate, tennis, golf, music, dance, and a fully licensed part-time Preschool: Early Childhood Adventures. Our Adult programs are just as plentiful, with offerings ranging from team sports to yoga and pickleball to art classes. We also have fitness room memberships available for those aged 16 years and older. Our Senior Program is also a big hit. Those who participate in our senior program can expect to experience a variety of themed social activities, dancing, food, and friendship. We also offer a Young at Heart social club that meets monthly for themed luncheons and business breakfasts in addition to planned day trips, overnight trips, socials, and even a Senior Prom.
Whether it be our diverse youth programs, our enriching adult and senior activities, serving on one of our many boards, or attending a Village Council meeting, the Village of Royal Palm Beach offers many opportunities for community engagement and we cannot wait for you to get involved!
Sincerely,
Raymond C. Liggins
